1976 Ibanez Korina Destroyer Electric Guitar
For sale is a used but well loved 1976 Ibanez Destroyer, sometimes known as the "lawsuit" era guitars. And yes its the same make and year of Edward Van Halens famous "shark" guitar. His started out this Korina color, then he painted it white, then it became the shark guitar during the Woman and Children's First era. This guitar was manufactured in June of 1976 at the FujiGen Gakki, Japan plant.
From a personal collection, 2nd owner. Has sensible upgrades, detailed below.
Outfitted with aged Fralin Pure PAF Humbuckers (stock PAF wind). Original Super 70's pickups are not included with this.
Bridge and tailpiece are custom aged Tonepros locking (tailpiece is aluminum). Original bridge, tailpiece, studs are included with this. You can see them in the baggie in the picture of the blue interior of the case.
Electronics have all been changed to modern top end CTS with a paper in oil capacitor. Original electronics were crap and not included. Original owner put a coil tap in between the volume knobs, it was removed and the guitar wired back to stock. The tiny hole is still there. We were going to have someone fill it, but decided to let it go as is. Knobs are replaced with whats shown, original knobs are not included.
Pickguard, tuners, and finish are all original. Finish is in great shape for a 45 year old guitar. There are dings here and there in the usual spots but nothing crazy. See the detailed pictures of various angles of the guitar in this listing. No breaks or repairs on this guitar, its been babied the for past 15 years.
This guitar is super resonant, and with the upgraded electronics, pickups and hardware it really screams! This guitar is in collector condition but has real player upgrades. Frets are original and are about halfway through their life, still totally playable. Original hardshell case is included. One of the latches doesn't work and some of the original tolex is peeling, but its sound.
